These PDF files will give you a scale drawing of the Stand-Out stretcher mortising jig as well as instructions to build and use for chairmaking. A short hardware list is also included. To build this tool you need access to a table saw, a bandsaw or jigsaw, and drill or drill press. A table or plunge router is helpful in milling the slot in the Upright, but is not necessary.
This jig will allow simple, direct drilling of mortices in side stretchers for an H-stretcher arrangement, as well as aiding in the joinery of a three-legged stool or perch which exhibits a "T" stretcher arrangement, or in accurately joining crinoline stretchers. I'm certain there are other uses as well!
