My wooden utensils are finely crafted from green wood using traditional Slojd processes (say: slOYd). When possible, tree crooks (areas with bends or branch intersections) are used to create spoons. In this manner, the integrity of the long grain wood fibers remains intact through the length of the spoon. Straight grain may be employed, but the design of the spoon must adhere to strict guidelines to maintain strength. Most finished pieces are, "off the knife," and only the interior of a spoon bowl is sanded.
